If We Don't Do It, Nobody Else Will

~by Alan Bradbury

We live on a fragile planet.....
and the American lifestyle of today is no longer based on sustainability and conservation but upon a never ending flow of consumption..... much of which is not very good for our health or our soul.

We’ve been misled by clever advertising-think-tanks into believing we are doing the right things for our loved ones and ourselves, but actually most of our reality is based on things that are not real.

Artificial ingredients abound in our food, in our government, and in our beliefs......

......we get lost in movies, pop stars & porn stars, newspapers, globalization, and rhetoric.
None of which leaves us with any real inner peace.

The end result leaves us in debt, depressed, & discouraged in a polluted world.....

......further and further from our true self and personal fulfillment.

What I'm getting at is this .....

..... if our leaders, religious organizations, and elected officials are not representing proper values, then we need to take it upon ourselves to be good role models and examples.....
to make a better world through right choices and right action.

So let’s start with the Golden Rule.
Not only as it applies to other people but also towards our planet.
There...... we just solved almost all the worlds problems.

It may not be as easy as a stray thought, as it takes a true intent of caring, thoughtfulness, dedication, and putting proper thought into action.
This is all very real stuff that leads to solid relationships, happy families, a sense of fulfillment, and a healthy planet.

As with our own bodies, the planet is a body that supports all life. If we don’t have health in our own bodies.....
or in the body of the earth.....
.....all the illusionary stuff, no matter how much we think that we own it, proves to be basically meaningless.
So let’s be cautious as to who molds our thinking and spending habits.

Let’s stop buying junk and products with short lifespans.
Let's stop supporting industries which pollute and destroy our environment.

Let’s limit our consumption as much as possible, to meaningful items that can be reused or recycled.

Let’s get back to quality in our businesses, and in ourselves, and break away from the examples set by so many corporations and politicians. Examples which seem to say 'whatever you can get away with is good business.'

This is not good business!

Good business is good for both producer and consumer, not just for special interests..... so let’s be fair in our interactions with others, and let’s be kind to every person and to ourselves.
My favorite bumper sticker reads
“God Bless the whole world no exceptions."
